{"id":939,"date":"2012-05-01T15:14:07","date_gmt":"2012-05-01T15:14:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/interaction2012.coin-operated.com\/?p=939"},"modified":"2012-05-01T15:14:07","modified_gmt":"2012-05-01T15:14:07","slug":"switching-to-droid","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/interaction2012.coin-operated.com\/?p=939","title":{"rendered":"Switching to Droid!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So I&#8217;ve been pretty all over the place so far in how I intend to execute the task of getting passive EEG data to sync with manually input data from a smartphone. \u00a0Last week I spent countless hours trying to figure out how to use Frequency Shift Keying to &#8220;legally&#8221; send data into the iPhone through the audio jack. \u00a0There is information on how to do this in the book <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Iphone-Hacks-Pushing-Beyond-Limits\/dp\/0596516649\">iPhone Hacks<\/a> but there aren&#8217;t very many helpful examples online about how to do this (at least none that I could find). \u00a0After a while I realized that I was dedicating more time towards breaching the defenses of the iPhone than the essence of my project. \u00a0In the spirit of staying on track I abandoned using the iPhone w\/ FSK and I&#8217;ve made the move to Android with Bluetooth. \u00a0Currently my bluetooth module is in the mail &#8211; a piece recommended by Mr. Fuzzy-Wobble. \u00a0Additionally, I am purchasing\/borrowing an Android today.<\/p>\n<p>My new and final goal is to send the serial data (via a bluetooth module) from the Mindflex to an application that I will build on my Android. \u00a0This application will then send the packets of data to the internal SD storage in the phone. \u00a0The internal clock of the phone to time-stamp the data, and there will be a simple interface for annotating the data with 2 preset lists of manually input &#8220;Activities&#8221; and &#8220;Moods&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>So far, I&#8217;ve:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Installed the Android SDK and downloaded the new Processing (2.0 Alpha 5) which supports Android Development and has a phone emulator for rendering sketches. \u00a0Information on how to do this is here:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/wiki.processing.org\/w\/Android\">http:\/\/wiki.processing.org\/w\/Android<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Compiled a simple sketch on the Android emulator in processing (see below)<\/li>\n<li>Located helpful resources on how write to the Android&#8217;s SD using processing, and use bluetooth to communicated from Arduino to Android:<\/li>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/forum.processing.org\/topic\/how-do-i-write-data-to-the-phone-or-sd-card-memory\">http:\/\/forum.processing.org\/topic\/how-do-i-write-data-to-the-phone-or-sd-card-memory<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.instructables.com\/id\/Androino-Talk-with-an-Arduino-from-your-Android-d\/\">http:\/\/www.instructables.com\/id\/Androino-Talk-with-an-Arduino-from-your-Android-d\/<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<li>Ran a survey on &#8220;Activities&#8221;
